As Legal Counsel at Cerba Research you will become part of our global legal team headed by the general counsel of the company. The tasks and responsibilities of the team involve providing legal advice and support related to the organization's operations, contracts, compliance, and regulatory matters. The following objectives are part of your responsibilities:


  • Legal Compliance: Ensure the organization's activities adhere to relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards, particularly those related to clinical trials and research.
  • Contract Management: Draft, review, negotiate, and finalize contracts with clients, vendors, partners, and other stakeholders, while mitigating legal risks and ensuring favourable terms.
  • Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Identify potential legal risks and provide strategies for risk mitigation to protect the organization's interests.
  • Regulatory Support: Stay updated on relevant regulations in the pharmaceutical and clinical research industry, and provide guidance to ensure the organization's compliance.
  • Dispute Resolution: Handle legal disputes and litigation that may arise, either through negotiation, settlement, or legal action, to protect the organization's rights and minimize financial and reputational damage.
  • Intellectual Property Protection: Advise on matters related to intellectual property, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets, to safeguard the organization's research and innovations.
  • Policy Development: Contribute to the development and implementation of company policies and procedures to align with legal requirements and best practices.
  • Training and Education: Ensure that employees are aware of legal considerations and compliance requirements in their roles.




Required Competences:


  • Completed university degree in Belgian Law
  • 5+ years of working experience, gained preferably as a lawyer and/or as legal counsel to an internationally operating commercial entity
  • Fluency in Dutch and English, both written and orally
  • Thorough knowledge of, and experience with, Belgian Corporate Law
  • Thorough knowledge of, and experience with, contract drafting in an international setting
  • Stress-resistant
  • Ability to prioritize
  • Good communication skills
  • Trustworthy and reliable team player
  • Able to work independently


Preferred Competences:

  • Fluency in French, both written and orally
  • Knowledge of, and experience working with, the GDPR, including agreements covering data transfers out of the EEA.
  • Knowledge of Clinical Trials and related legal topics
  • Knowledge of Belgian employment law
